Always be positive with your dog and never yell at him or punish if it poops inside the house. Just tell him firmly "NO". Immediately, then take the paper towel which has mess on it and throw it outside and make sure the dog sees it all.
Lastly, if you have to go somewhere without the dog for several hours, don't be scared to lock it in a crate or in a room where he sleeps. Because dogs rarely make those places messy which they consider their home places. So in this way you will be sure your dog will not have a present for you when you get back home.
