1 ? Electric Guitars
If you want to rock it up you are going to want an electric guitar. Electric guitars can come in many different shapes and colours but there are basically only two types of pick-up configuration to be aware of. Single Coil or Humbucker. The pick-ups are those funny looking things that sit on the guitar underneath the strings. They sound quite different but if you just starting out learning how to play a guitar the easiest way to describe them is; if you are looking for the cleaner Mark Knopfler or Eric Clapton guitar sound the 3 single coil pickup configuration would be ideal. If you want a more ?fat? bluesy or rock sound that can really overdrive your amp go for the humbuckers.
2 ? Acoustic Guitars
Acoustic Guitars come in basically 2 designs: - Steel string acoustic and Classical or Spanish gut stringed. If you are only young and learning to play acoustic guitar, a classical gut stringed guitar might be more suited to you. The reason being, that when you first start to play, your fingers on your fret hand will be very tender and the gut strings are much softer to hold down. The steel string acoustic by the very fact of having steel strings can take a little longer for your fingers to get used to.
