Do you have a new year's resolution to lose weight? Well, many of the millions of overweight people in America do and it wouldn't be unusual if you did too. How about losing tons of belly fat faster than normal and getting in such good shape that you might possibly sport a nice six pack at the end of the summer? How would that make you feel about yourself? In this article I'll talk about what you need to do in order to get ripped and lean before beach 2011! And it's not as hard as you might think, but it will require determination and hard work, for sure.
First off, you need to change the way you eat. You need to keep a healthy balanced diet, with little or no sugar. Cut out sodas and snacks as much as possible. Keep your sugar intake to zero if you can. Try to cook meals and prepare natural foods at home and keep them with you in order to be able to eat 6 smaller meals each day of around 200-300 calories each. Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated and flush out toxins from your body. You'll notice an increase in energy by doing this. You should also try to eat lean protein and vegetables with every meal you prepare.
Secondly you will want to start a strength training program where you lift weights or do bodyweight exercises at home. Either way, you need to build and/or maintain muscle mass during your weight loss. Failure to do this might lead to fast weight gain when you stop working out or stop dieting and go back to old habits. Get a gym membership and pay for a full year in order to make yourself pre-commited to going... Don't slack off and stop when beach season arrives or you'll lose your muscle and gain fat again.
And last but not least, you should also get on a high intense interval training program to burn off fat deposits and lose fat. You want to try and do 30 minutes of intense cardio every other day and workout with weights every other day if you can. This will allow your body to rest between workouts and get a varied workload. So monday you might go to the gym, tuesday you run for 30 minutes, wednesday you will go back to the gym, etc.
If you follow this pattern and take a rest on sundays you will notice that your weight will drop significantly and you may even end up with a ripped six pack if you work hard enough. Remember, diet, strength training and cardio is the secret combination that turns you into a ripped machine.
