Have you ever set out to do something and then get distracted repeatedly? At the end of the day what you wanted to finish, you never got to and you wonder how in the world did the day just slip right by you?

Same goes for your network marketing business.

For example, you may have every intention of working on building your Twitter followers each day. But it is now the weekend and you realize that you have not even opened your Twitter account since last Sunday. ..much less posted interesting items or built up your follower numbers. Obviously you have lost sight of your prize: having hundreds of new Twitter followers.

You may decide article writing is the way to grow your business. The plan is to write five articles a week Monday through Friday. Although you intend to jot down a topic and some ideas during the day, somehow that does not happen. After dinner you sit in front of your computer looking at a blank screen. Time to check email. Oh, that joke that Margie sent was hilarious, I'm forwarding it to everyone. Better get started on that article. Would you look at that, it is already 10:30 and I have not planned what I am wearing to work tomorrow. Maybe I should skip the article for tomorrow and start fresh tomorrow night. (Another example of taking your eyes off the prize.)

A simple solution: take the time to create a schedule for yourself. Perhaps do this on Sunday when you have a pretty good idea what the week has in store for you.

Your schedule might look like this:
Sunday - Thursday: 7PM - 8PM - Article writing and Article Posting
Sunday - Thursday: 8PM - 9PM - Social Networking Time (answering messages, building friendships)
Sunday - Thursday: 9PM - 9:30PM - Tweet and start following others on Twitter
Sunday - Thursday: 9:30PM - 10PM - Check/Read/Answer Email
Weekends: Whatever time you can squeeze out of your weekend to build your business, be sure you do it on a consistent basis.

Traditional businesses are all too aware that there is a beginning and an end to their workforce's day. In order to maximize labor's output, a schedule must be adhered to. You are your home based business workforce…a staff of one. Stick to your schedule, keep your eyes on the prize and do not let yourself be distracted.

I have to run, time to hit the social networks.
