House sales with land are booming in Britain owing to a new breed of lifestyle buyer entering the British countryside to find property.
They are encouraged both by record city bonuses in 2007 and the dream of creating something "real" or at least more tangible than profits from the exotic equity derivatives market.

This new type of buyer of country properties is often keen to return to a more prosaic way of farming — often organic and with the associated high standards of animal welfare and stewardship. But they are also keen to get their hands on a prime country house for the family with good schools and a smattering of village life.

UK land prices are rising at a good rate at moment, partly because of a lack of supply on the open market, but also as the value of cereal crops is rising quickly. The pressure to give land over to producing crops for biofuel is making land more pricey in general. Career bankers are rarely slow to spot the opportunities in a rising market like this. Many say there can be a good future farming, especially if it is done correctly.

Despite many eager buyers, though, it can be a challenge to find the right country properties for them. This is because many traditional landowners choose to pass their property on through the family, a practise which can be tax-efficient. There is also a healthy level of scepticism about would-be landowners. Locals often need to convinced that the ultimate aim of a country property purchase is not to build on it in one form or another.

Nevertheless with demand continuing property estate agents. say it looks like house sales of country properties is set to rocket.
