Horror books & our economic crisis

It's no secret that purchases of horror books among many things are in the tank right now. It doesn't matter which vendor or publisher you talk to, vendors and publishers are both feeling the pain. However, there is a interesting mystery to the sudden complete drop in horror books sales, and it began about a month or so ago.
Around a month ago sales were booming for horror books! People were happy and excited to click on add to cart for every book they wanted from publishers like Dark Regions among many others. No one is quite sure exactly what happened, but something definitely did happen. Could it be the mounting pressure for a health care bill? Could it be the tension about the war in Afghanistan?
Around August/September everyone was watching the DOW reach the 10,000 mark and assumed that everything was turning around. Now does this mean things won't turn around? Of course not. But it does mean this holiday season might not be as active commerce wise as we might have expected. In fact, many economists predict things won't start turning around until next summer. This unfortunately is going to hurt the growth of many businesses and perhaps even force some to close down shop. Some find it surprising though that horror books are feeling the economic hit as hard as others. Traditionally forms of media such as horror books are well suited for economic down time because they offer a means of escape from the current hard times. However, "The Great Recession" seems to be so strong that not even this is the case any longer.

All we can do is be patient. Your work was not in vain, for the future will only reward you because of your work.
