Many people may be curious to know just what is FENG SHUI?
Feng- Shui is representative of Chinese science in the same manner that the electromagnetic spectrum is representative of Western science, in which terms of visible and invisible light emissions in the electromagnetic spectrum are used to define our surroundings.
The chi energy lines frequently referred to in feng shui underpin its whole practice.
These can be compared to the invisible energy lines that form the spectrum of electromagnetic waves, perhaps better described as " earth currents " in the atmosphere.
In feng- shui terms, chi consists of invisible lines of energy, picturesquely described as the " cosmic breath " of the celestial dragon.Surely chi is no different from the earth currents that modern scientific discoveries have shown us exist everywhere around us.
Computers have gone wireless. Messages, data, and even pictures are sent across the world through waves and radio energy. Surely it is possible that the chi lines referred to in feng shui are simply scientifically undiscovered dynamic forces that cause well-being or illness, good fortune or misfortune, thus having an impact on living people.
Feng shui's potency and visible effects are thus akin to the technological harnessing of electromagnetic energies seen in modern appliances such as microwave ovens, CD players, radios, and television sets.
Just as these emissions can be both productive and destructive, so too can chi and feng- shui produce both beneficial and disastrous results - what the Chinese construe as good or bad luck.
To the non-Chinese reader, the prevalence of Chinese popular folklore, myths and beliefs, anecdotes, and grassroots interpretations is a source of added interest, and creative readers may well discover parallels in their cultural millieu and folk wisdom.
