For many single moms the mentioning of the Obama grant may not be fully understood however it is being given emphasis by the government under the popular Obama administration in support of working mother's returning to college. There are many existing government benefits that are being given attention that in truth are just reworked federal programs such as ones which help to assist working mothers to attend college. Pell grants are a great asset for potential students, and here is why they are causing a stir among moms who want to return to the classroom.

The Federal Pell grants has existed over many years making it one of the many familiar types of government financial aid for the furtherance of college. The Pell grant plays a huge advantage to any student awarded such aid as it does not require repayment at the end typical of a normal loan. Pell grants are generally awarded to students seeking an undergraduate degree who have not already earned a bachelor's or professional degree. These two characteristics are ideal for single, working mothers, which is the cause of all the excitement over the Scholarships for Moms program. The Pell grant is being used by President Obama and his administration to encourage mothers to make use of the funds in attending college although no specific program exists by that name.

The Pell grant has a further advantage besides it being a monetary gift in that it does not place restrictions when it comes to sourcing other financial aids. Aid from other federal programs as well as private, non-federal institutions can be applied to cover education costs. In the award year from July 1, 2009, to June 30, 2010, the maximum amount of a Pell grant is $5,350. Other sources will be needed to supplement college cost which may not be covered by the federal Pell grant aid. It must be noted that you are not limited to tuition once awarded money. Other requirements which maybe needed when it comes to education may include laptops, books, travel and of course housing.

Scholarships for Moms has become popu lar because the Obama administration's focus on education has highlighted the benefits of the Pell grant program. There are many advantages to such a federal program and is greatly beneficial to single, working mothers who wish to earn a degree. College no longer has to be just a dream because of family or financial needs.

It is encouraging to see how the Obama grant obtained through the federal Pell grant program has benefited many to go to college. This is especially true for working mothers. Returning to college and obtaining a degree is certainly the encouragement being given by the current administration to all single mothers working a permanent job. The current administration is heartily cheering for single, full-time working mothers to apply for college and earn a degree. Your future could be much brighter than you realize.
