Over the past few months we've seen an unprecedented fall in the price of solid state media storage drives, digital flash camera memory and usb pen drives.
As these devices become ever more popular and practical, their advantages are being recognised by schools, students and professionals alike. The concept of transferring coursework, accounts and sensitive files between home and college or the office quickly and easily is an inviting one.
I recently talked to Ben Baber of CAV UK Limited - a Bristol based electronics retailer with a formidable online presence at http://www.cavuk.com - who told me that these products have been 'flying off the shelves' in the run up to Christmas this year. He says 'parents are flocking to our store to get hold of flash drives as stocking fillers for their kids', 'it's a cheap and useful product, a rarity in today's market!'
So based on Ben's optimism, my advice to retailers would be to stock up for December, and watch the tills go!
Thanks to C.A.V (UK) Limited for their co-operation - CAV are based at 18 Gloucester Rd, Bishopston, Bristol. Stocking Kingston products plus over 1000 computer audio and video cables and accessories. Telephone 0117 9444191. CAV offer free national delivery on all flash media.
