Glass Urn - An old and effective Urn

When we loose someone close to us it is very difficult to get over the stigma related to the departed soul. It is our earnest approach to keep the memories related our dear one alive. In this approach cremation urns play a big role to keep the ashes of the person as an everlasting memory. As is emphasized by the biblical phrase of "ashes to ashes" meaning that we have come from ashes (sand) and we would end up in the ashes, glass urn is the best option. These urns are made up of the transformed sand. When the sand is heated at very high temperatures it turns from a very grainy substance to a solid substance giving a look of a metal as well as having some properties of liquid. Glass is the only known material in this world that exhibits the qualities of both solid and liquid. That explains why the urns made from sand are known as glass urns.

History has some pointers as to when the glass made from sand was unearthed. In around 5000 B.C., some sailors landed on the barren island. As they were cooking there food they could not find anything like rocks to hold there hot utensils. Then they decided to use the soda powder blocks that they were carrying with themselves. As they exposed those soda blocks to the heat for some time those blocks melted and mixed into the sand and gave birth to what we call glass. So from those days this manmade glass has been used constantly along with marbles to make urns.

Urns have also been made from the natural glass. As natural glass is very rare and equally expensive so the use of manmade glass to make urns has been on a much greater scale. Even various urns from history have been found to be made from glass. Over the years artists have mastered the art of making various designs on the glass urns. These are handmade so the human touch of artistry and imagination is always going to be there providing a great visual to our eyes.
