Sun tanning is the process of exposing the skin to natural sun ultraviolet rays or to artificial sources in order to achieve a sun kissed look or a darker complexion. People normally do this because, they believe that, it makes them look more beautiful than if they had a pale complexion. There are various health benefits associated with tanning skin. Apart from the fact that, the sun is a natural source of vitamin D, it can also be helpful in solving some skin problems such as breakouts. It can show improvement on people with more serious problems such as eczema.

For people who wish to have a tan all year round, then artificial tanning is the way to go. Some of the commonly used methods have increased health risks for the users. An example is the use of sun beds. These have been associated with problems such as developing cataracts or eye damage, causing pre-mature aging and also in developing skin cancer. A lot of education has been made available to ensure that, more and more people are discouraged from using this method.

Nowadays, there are new products in the market. Each of these products promises to be safer than the previous one. For a long time, people depended on sun beds but are now more educated about them and therefore tend to avoid them. Currently most people are opting for air brushing as the preferred mode of tanning. This is done using a gun that is loaded with colorant. With this method, one is able to achieve a natural look and it usually fades out evenly and not in patches. This method can also be done in the house, one does not have to visit a beauty salon or a spa.

Other ways that one can use to get a bronze look include the use of tanning lotions. These ones are quite hard to use as it is very easy for accidents to occur. You can also use makeup to bronze the skin and create an illusion of a sun kissed skin. This method is very fast to use and can present very good results. However, this should not be applied excessively as it gives the skin a very fake look.
