Find it Hard to Write?
Writing is rarely easy. This is because everything worth doing is beset by problems of technique and skill. To improve our writing these problems have to be solved. Most of these them stem from our confused thinking and not from lack of creative power. By improving our way of thinking our creative power will be released.
Just think of the amount of effort we have wasted in the past trying to express confused thoughts. Our writing would be that much better now if our past thinking had been clearer. Our output would be greater. We would spend less time editing.
Unclear thinking affects all writers to some degree. None is completely immune. It is the essence of all the arts and governs the way writers work. Many writers try very hard to write high-density content even after their texts are already crystal clear. Others further enrich and enhance their style. A few keep endlessly search for absolute simplicity.
Simplicity has many benefits. Its main objective is to increase the writer's appeal to a wider circle of readers. It brings out the instincts needed to advance the power of clearer thinking in our present age.
The problem of clear thinking exists because of the explosion in technology and knowledge. It is not a negative condition brought on merely by poverty or bad education. No one is responsible for this confusion. It is part of a natural evolution. It exists and writers are bound to confront it as others try to understand the weather. In effect it is an essential preparatory transitional period prior to the general uplifting of humanity to its next higher level.
A practical way to achieve greater clarity of thought and writing is for us to model ourselves on a celebrity author. Such an author should be one we admire whose clarity of speech and writing we easily understand and respect.
Using a model works for artist painters why not writers?
You may have noticed how clear our thoughts can be in bed! If so it makes sense to find a way to use this greater clarity in our writing.
Experts tell us when we act we do so in one of many different personality roles. We become a parent - husband - wife - brother - sister - or whoever in turn during a constantly changing stream throughout the day. Yet we always imagine we act consistently in our one true self. This is a great delusion as none of our many roles is really our true self.
If we can discard our many false roles we will free ourselves from our own confusion because we will not be able to pick up the roles of our stand-in expert. This will give us direct access to our own clearest thoughts.
What is the actual technique?
It is very simple system.
First relax in either an easy chair or in bed.
Speak into a recording machine.
Record everything that comes to mind.
Gradually merge into your celebrity author's persona.
Continue talking until the tape ends.
Rest a while before playing the tape back.
Then you will probably find an article almost ready in your own clearer thinking and writing voice.
