Yes I know the summer is coming to an end, but over the last couple of months I have been very unfortunate to have been exposed to some of the biggest decorative no no's. So please ladies and gentlemen kick back take a load off and let me teach you about redecorating for the summer.
The sunrise comes bounding over the hill and hits you softly and ca resently on the cheek, waking you ever so gently. Today is June 1st and clean summer air feels your lungs. Now you begin to sit up and gaze around your cluttered room. Your creative mind starts to run. It's Saturday and you begin to think," What a wonderful day to start redecorating for the summer." So you arm yourself with your very own pair of rubber gloves and a feather duster.( If you had a helmet and a rifle you would be ready for the marines.)
You start off good by removing all the clutter and beginning with a fresh slate. This is where everything goes down hill. Miss Jones is outside with her beautiful garden and you think," Well I can do that." So now your headed off to your local home depot to pick up a few supplies. The plants are way in the back, before you get all the way to the back of the home depot you decide to pick up a few other things. First you grab some paint, then some wall paper, some colorful tiles, some gravel , and a brand new
duvet cover setfor you and your daughter's bedroom. Finally you make your way to the back of the home depot and pick up as many of the prettiest flowers that you can hold in your cart.
Now you are back in your car with a wide grin on your face ready to face the day ahead. As you make your way into your home, your husband gives you a very awkward grin and asks," Doing a little redecorating honey?" You nod happily and excitedly. Hurriedly you open you first can of florescent orange paint. You dip your brand new paint brush into the orange liquid and press the brush to the wall your husband tenses up as he watches you begin your massacre on your home.
The sun begins to set on Sunday evening and you step back to admire your work. Although you feel a little less than satisfied with your work you turn to your husband and ask him what he thinks of it. Nervously he says," Looks awesome baby, it's......wonderful!" Now that you have been reassured you take another look at your multi colored wall masterpiece. A week passes and you can't wait to show some of your friends what you did with your home. Constantly you tell your friends how you had a great decorative inspiration last weekend and how you wouldn't mind decorating their homes also.On Friday you invite your close friends over for brunch ( More to show off your home than to eat). They both eagerly except and say that they will be at your doorsteps by nine.
Friday arrives and you friends approach you as you are tending your once beautiful flowers that seem to be slowly and painfully weltering away. You get up to great your friends and tell them to follow you into your home. As they walk into the decorative nightmare they see plants lining every window seal, at their feet they notice that the tiles of your kitchen are baby blue while your walls are bright orange. Now you excitedly take your friends on a tour of the massacre. As you open your daughters bedroom your loyal friends do their best to hold back their giggles. On the bed is a duvet cover that looks like it was thrown into a rainbow and several more plants placed along her dresser. Multi colored wallpaper lines your walls. Now it is time for you to lead your two friends (who have almost completely transformed into hyenas) to the master bedroom.
You turn to your friends as you open the door exposing the evil that you have done and ask them innocently,"So what do you think?" One of them can't control themselves any longer and burst into laughter, the other presses her hand on your shoulder and ask," Sweaty are you alright, what happened to your home?" I know some of you out there have read this article and feel completely loss and don't understand what exactly went wrong. If you are one of these people I urge you to continue to read it's for your own good and the good of everyone who has to live in the same house of one of these decorative monsters.
Alright so the first thing that the woman in this short story did wrong was deciding to start her garden in June. If you want to start a really nice garden I suggest starting off with some potted seedlings in mid to late February of course it depends on where you are located in the world. But deciding to start a garden at the begging of summer can be bad for many reasons. For example if you decide to go with plants that have already started to grow and blossom it will be a chore attempting to extend their life span in the garden. Which brings up another point, I know a lot of people out there see gardening as some easy task but believe me it is a lot harder than meets the eye.Their is a lot more to gardening than just planting a pretty flower in some dirt and watering it daily. To properly care for a garden you must have the right soil, fertilizer, constantly remove it of weeds, and make sure that each plant is spaced evenly enough to where they will be able to grow properly. Yes
I know summer time means lots and lots of plants but it is possible to go over board, yes it's nice to have some pretty flowers blooming on the window sell but you don't want to turn your home into the amazon. When decorating try to think of a great ocean with many rivers and streams feeding it, and if your colors don't mix together ( Like a baby blue floor and florescent orange walls) than you can easily turn that beautiful flowing ocean of yours into a desert.
Personally I love duvet cover sets, but it can be done wrong. For example if you go with a cheap duvet cover with a lower than 180 thread count than it can easily become torn. And if you are looking for a duvet cover for the summer try to grab a nice
Floral duvet cover set. This alone can totally change a once plain bedroom into that exotic and wild look that you are going for. Remember though if you decide to grab yourself a floral duvet try not to go overboard and grab a nice subtle one. Always remember although you want to have your bed be eye catching to your guest you don't want it to scream at them. If you follow these simple steps than I'm sure it will be impossible to at least completely destroy your home.Of course if that doesn't work you can always just blame everything on your husband.
