Extraction of Colors from animal byproducts

Colors are very essential for our daily life, at every moment of life we have to use & choose colors. They are spread all around us. These are obtained from so many processes. Explanation of some is here for your knowledge.

Extraction of colors from animal waste.

•• White color was extracted from crushed bone

•• Black color was extracted from black smoke dirt deposited in old oil lamps.

Besides this there are some other ways to collect colors.

•• To dye cloth or leather pieces, a compound of alum and potassium is used, When this dyeing process is about to complete, a colored solid waste is produced, which is used further to dye other things.

•• Madder lake (reddish-purple) is extracted from the roots of the madder plant.

•• Powder like minerals mixed with egg-yoke and tree gum produce some tinctures used by ancient Egyptians.

•• Minced glass, oxidization of manufactured goods and heat tinctures is a major part of man-made colors which were used in ancient Egypt.

•• Egyptian blue might be one of the most famous of all the artistic colors created in ancient Egypt.

•• A green or bluish deposit especially of copper carbonates formed on copper, brass, or bronze surfaces.

•• Lead white color is extracted by heating antimony oxide, lead-antimonite and a pigment known as Naples yellow.

•• A tiny painting could be made very small, due to the red paint used in canvassing it.
