Paphos is the capital and is divided into New Paphos, which is the current city, and Old Paphos with its cultural and natural treasures which have made it a UNESCO site.

Old Paphos was the mythical place of birth of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of beauty and love. Aphrodite was said to emerge from the sea at the Rock of Aphrodite. You can still swim around a specific rock three times to supposedly have eternal youth! The Super Aphrodite Waterpark has 8 or 10 different rides, ka pool with a wave machine, a winding river with waterfalls, tunnels, and more.

In Old Paphos is a big tourist attraction, the Roman Mosaics. These mosaics are beautifully preserved from an ancient Roman governor's palace and appear on walls, pillars, buildings, and floors. The mosaics exhibit scenes from mythology and unusual patterns. This huge site continues to have excavations after 16 centuries.

Tombs of the Kings is another World Heritage Site. The tombs were cut right into the rock like houses and combine to make a city. There are also underground caves, columns, vaults, and more.

The Ethnographical Museum gives you a glimpse of the people's history from ancient times through to those who are making local history today.

Scuba diving is quite popular in this area and is sometimes the sole reason for going on Cyprus holidays. There are planned trips with dive leaders who change the sites according to the weather and who point out interesting sea life and swim throughs while you are underwater.

Visiting a winery is an interesting outing, especially one like the Vouni Panayia Winery, which is local and family-owned. There you will find the making of their excellent wines, which surprisingly have reasonable prices, as well as watching the cooking of local delicacies in their restaurant.

On now to the current night life! Agiou Antoniou is the street where most of the music and dancing occurs. Robin Hood has a different type of music each night. At Hollywoods Bar you can dance, watch live football, and have a chance to create your own cocktail. Boogies has a karaoke night. Rainbow Disco continues on with its dancing after other places have closed down.
