Many people are using special strategies and exercises to jump higher. Even though there are numerous exercises that you can do to increase your vertical jump, I am going to give you some that have worked for me. Remember that before performing these exercises, you should warm up and stretch to reduce injury to the muscle groups you'll be exercising.
Toe Lifts
This exercises is fairly self explanatory. Toe raises exercises many muscle groups that are concerned in jumping, and are a great way to stretch the ligaments in the ankle to reduce injury in the future. To perform this workout simply stand up, and lift to your toes. Be steady and remember to move slowly and stretch as long (30 seconds is ideal) as you can possibly go. Stop yourself to rocking forwards and forwards. Once you reach a point you can and should use weights to increase resistance.
Deep knee bends work on the major muscle groups that are concerned in jumping. They can also bolster the ligaments concerned in knee bending, which can reduce future injury. To perform the exercise, bend your knees and crouch down with a very slight arch in your back, or as straight as possible. You need to go down as you can go without discomfort, this is mostly below a 90 degree angle. Slowly raise to an erect position, making sure that your back stays at the same angle. These can also be done with little weights to increase resistance.
Crunches/Sit Ups
Stomach crunches are a particularly easy exercises that will raise your core strength. Accept it or not, your abdominal muscles are largley concerned when leaping.Use your own weight in your favor when doing crunches.
Jump-rope
If you've got a jumping rope, use it. You can do this nearly anywhere and any time, for example watching Television . Employing a jump-rope is not only good for your cardiovascular endurance, but it also helps to lengthen the core muscles concerned in plyometrics.
