Driving a car in rain needs special focus and more care than a routine normal drive, especially if it is a heavy rain. Heavy rain makes things difficult for a driver to drive a car on a wet road. Driving in the rain requires from you some extra homework. You need to have everything in perfect condition before going out on a drive in rain. Unlike sunny weathers, you have to take some special precautionary measures before setting out on a journey. In this article we will tell you how to drive safe in rain.

Although it is important to keep your car in best working condition, but it becomes more important in rainy weathers to maintain your car properly to drive in severe weather conditions. Each and everything should be in perfect condition, i.e. from proper inflated tires to windshield wipers.

1- Proper inflated tires are necessary to keep your car intact with the road. Also tires must be in good condition, having enough tread to grip the wet road.

2- Windshield wipers are the most important part of your car in rainy weather. You have to make sure that the windshield wipers are not damaged and working properly. Damaged wipers will in no way help to clear the windshield properly for you.

3- Before moving out in the rain, make sure that the brakes are properly working. Also keep a proper distance from a car ahead of you as brakes longer to act on wet roads. So a reasonable distance should be maintained to avoid any collision or accident.

4- Another point while driving in rain is to keep your lights on, when your wipers are on. This is so because wipers are on means there is heavy downpour and low visibility. Lights will help other drivers on the road to see your car and avoid hitting you.

5- In severe downpours the visibility reduces to few inches, and often you are forced to pull over. In that case, use your emergency flashers and as far as possible stay in your car and wait for rain to slow down.

6- Even if you have a flat, it is not good idea to come out of your car in heavy rain, as due to reduced visibility other drives may not able to see you and hit you.

7- Large puddles are created due to heavy rains and roads become flooded with water. Avoid driving into those puddles as far as possible as water may cause your vehicle to halt in the center of the puddle and you find yourself in a helpless condition.

8- Another important point to avoid any unpleasant situation is to reduce the speed of your car in rain. Roads are wet and there are chances that your car may slip or skid at some point.

The best possible way to lessen the chances of accident in rain is to stay at home as far as possible. But this is not always possible. At times, it becomes necessary to drive pout in heavy rains. By keeping these points in your mind, you can at least have a better chance of having a safe drive in the heavy downpours.
