I believe this is a major concern for most people especially in this unstable economy, where the recession takes place. Lots of people lost their job and unable to pay their bills. Financial advisors advise these people to pay for their mortgage and the car installment first instead of the credit card. As if you were to
find a job in the future, you need a transportation to bring you to the place you work. Car is a must. What you can do is try to contact the credit card company and tell them your situation and negotiated with them. It is always better to contact them first to explain your situation and negotiated with them to show them your intention to pay off your debt.

Let's say you just never response to the credit card company. You just stop paying the bill and treat like nothing happened. Just bare in mind that the problem will not fade away. It is still there. With the advancement of the technology today, the credit card company will easily track down the past due bill, and keep sending out the warning letter.

Well, if you still ignore it, the credit card company might sell your account to the debt collector. Then it will be between you and the debt collector company. Sometimes, the credit card company might offer you a deal; it is called the credit card debt settlement in which we will discuss in depth in the near future. If you still do not
accept it, then the credit card company might bring this to the court. And in most cases, there is almost no chance that you will win this case. In which case, you have to pay all your debt as well as the lawyer fee. Well, if you have enough money to pay off those bills in the first place, you won't be end up in a situation like this. Therefore, the court will start to take off percentage of money from your paycheck, or put a lean on
your house.

Anyway, when there is a road, there is a way; don't feel helpless when you are in the situation where you can not pay off the bill, there are some regulations that will protect consumer who are in debt. We will discuss about the protection of you and me as a consumer.
