Your child has an imagination that needs to be stimulated and encouraged. There are many ways to do that but one sure way is with a dollhouse. Dollhouses not only encourage imaginative play but also teach them how to handle situations and about real life interactions with people.

Get Creative

Another way you can get creative with a doll house is to make your own dollhouse furniture. Making your own doll house furniture is not all that difficult. In fact, most arts and crafts stores have kits and these kits come with instructions and precut parts, so all you have to do is buy the glue, put them together and paint, just as you do with the model cars. Children of all ages enjoy making things and even a preschooler can make a dollhouse bed from a small box and some scraps of fabric. Of course older kids can get very detailed and involved in the whole process.

Buy Quality

If you want a dollhouse that is going to hold up to serious play you need to buy quality. Fisher Price dollhouses, a Barbie doll house or Kidskraft dollhouse is an excellent choice. The ones made of wood are the best. Be careful when buying them for young children - make sure the one you choose has large parts that cannot be swallowed.

Encourage Play

Encourage good old fashion play with a dollhouse. Boys and girls alike will enjoy making an imaginary world for their dolls, ponies, action figures and fairy friends with a good quality doll house. Invest in something that is not only fun but education and when you consider that many dollhouses are meant to be passed down the line you are getting a lot for your money. Consider a dollhouse an investment into your child's, and your grandchildrens, learning and play time.
