While some of us might think about the possibility of having unsafe water, few of us actually do much about it. Many are saying that having access to the purest water possible is one of the key steps to continued good health.

There seems to be a constant reference to unsafe drinking water in the general press, due to contaminants. They find their way into our domestic supplies in a variety of ways, like the use of fertilizers in farming areas that then leach into rivers that supply your homes.

Even city folk have to be concerned as the list of potential substances contributing to unsafe water runs into the hundreds. Just take a cursory look at some of the governments environmental agency websites.

Regulations and codes are already in place for many of these chemicals, often set as parts per billion or shortened to ppb. Once certain limits are breached there should be cause for concern, but it's never the same everywhere, as same municipalities fare better than others.

Additionally no one really knows the long term health impact of unsafe water on our body, with higher than permitted levels of things like arsenic and other heavy metals. A few health experts have linked it to some types of cancers which should ring alarm bells amongst consumers.

Sure, you could argue that most water treatment plants do a good job of cleansing your water, but I'd rather take matters into my own hands and do something that I know will ensure safer, cleaner water. Not only for drinking but also for other things like showering where evidence suggests that chlorine vapor could be a worry.

Take away the uncertainty and doubt by using a filter device, which is what my main site talks about in more detail.

Peter Foremski is Editor of www.water-filter-guide.com and cares passionately about the quality of water that he drinks and uses. You too can share in that information on where to find the best water filtration products So for purer, cleaner water begin your 'thirst' for knowledge here.
