Dental drill as an equipment has uses in dentistry and also has some other uses. In dentistry it is used to clear the tooth materials that gets deposited between the holes in the teeth, caused due to tooth decay. Before a dental filling, it is used so that any material doesn't remain inside and cause further tooth decay. Dental drills and drill bits are also commonly used by jewelers and hobbyists for high precision drilling work.
