Some women like surprises. Some don't. When you're dating women, you'll learn the surprises women in general like and the kind they dislike. However, every woman is different and so are their expectations. Dating women can be a pretty rough ride, but if you learn her likes and dislikes, you'll probably be okay.



Relationship Surprises



Relationship surprises are some of the worst, and some of the best. Relationships are tricky, because everyone has different expectations. When you're dating women, the only way to anticipate someone's reaction is to know her. Things one woman consider horrible might be a dream come true for another.



For instance, if you're dating women who want to get married, the surprise proposal is going to seem like a dream come true. However, the woman who never wants to get married in a million years is going todating women react different. Likewise, that same woman who wants to get married won't be thrilled when the person she's dated for two years tells her he wants to live together before discussing marriage. But then, she might be thrilled. Depends on the woman.



Previous relationships. No one likes discussing them, but most people have them. Still, they're important to discuss when you're dating women who don't know your past, especially if you have unexpected surprises. Even unexpected things, like a divorce, can be worked through when discussed. It's better to mention them sooner rather than later, even if your ex is long gone. Either way, dating women in a similar situation to your own can make it easier for her to swallow.



Cheating. This is no one's game. Smart men and smart women will end a relationship with a person they know is a cheater immediately, for their own good.



Family Surprises



If you spring family on someone, the person is bound to be shocked. No two people are alike, and neither are any two families. What's normal to you is going to be strange to the person you're dating. When you're dating women, you need to tell her before introducing her to your family. Especially if you have a large family and she's not met any of them. Bringing her to a restaurant to meet them without telling her first is unacceptable.



If you have children, you need to tell her. Even when you're dating women who like kids, they need to be told ahead of time. This does two things; it lets her get used to the idea of meeting your children and it lets her get to know you. Consider saying, "I have a son. I won't introduce you to him for a few months."



There are some unanimously good surprises. Like weekend getaways. Be sure, though, that she has the time off. Presents are good surprises. So are flowers. When you're dating women, good surprises don't have to be expensive. Just from your heart. And unexpected.



Even bad surprises can be worked on. If you're dating women who drop you without trying to work through surprise problems, it wasn't worth it, anyway.
