Crime is an inherently interesting topic. The daily news always features at least one story about a crime that has happened somewhere in the area, and definitely some that have taken place in other parts of the country or world. Murder mysteries have always been the source of serious entertainment for centuries, whether in literary or cinematic form, mysterious crimes have always fascinated audiences across the globe. This interest has also manifested itself in television shows. There are a rather large amount of crime dramas out there, but some shows are more worth checking out than others, and satellite tv has them all.

Of the top five crime dramas on television today, the first one worth mentioning is "Law and Order". This show is like the granddaddy of television crime dramas, whose popularity has inspired the creation of offshoots like "Law and order: SVU" and "Law and Order: CI". The creative and often gruesome crimes as well as the interaction between police, victims, criminals, and lawyers, make for some excellent television. Whichever version a person prefers, satellite tv brings them all in to homes everywhere. The second show on the list has followed a similar path as "Law and Order", and that is "CSI".

The original "CSI" in Las Vegas has a huge following and introduced a new side of the judicial process. Cops and lawyers are obvious players in the criminal game, but the scientists and the process that helps get convictions and the truth from crime scenes has often been overlooked. Turning the focus on the crime scene investigators brings a new perspective to the crime solving world on television. Sporting its own offshoots set in Miami and New York, "CSI" has all of the drama of a traditional crime show but with the added interest factor of criminal science. Satellite tv can help people learn something new while being entertained.

"NCIS" is the third top crime television show that people should watch. Another fun acronym standing for Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the show brings viewers into the judicial system of the military and shows how investigations there take place. This show differs from the others both in terms of the military component as well as the healthy dose of humor. While most crime dramas have some comic relief, "NCIS" cracks jokes with a bit more frequency. "Bones" is the fourth crime drama worth catching. This show goes beyond crime scene investigators, employing the skills of forensic anthropologists in order to solve cases. Satellite tv brings viewers all of the wit and scientific intrigue of this entertaining crime drama.

The final show worth watching is "In Plain Sight". This show follows the process of getting people into witness protection and making sure they stay there. The clever writing and quality acting of the show make it a must see for crime drama fans. While there are a lot of dramatic shows to choose from, people can get all of the best with Direct TV packages. Catching all of the criminal activity in high definition is a great way to get a daily dose of excitement. Just like criminal dramas, not all service is the same so it is important that people make sure they get the best like with Direct TV.
