Depending where you will be travelling in Nepal available accommodation can vary. If you are staying in or near Kathmandu then you should find cheap affordable small hotels, bed and breakfast style accommodation or hostels.

When staying in more remote areas, accommodation can be in the form of local teahouses on Nepalese trekking holidays, this can allow travellers to meet and interact with local people & their culture, plus share their experiences. There will also be limited accommodation hostels, small hotels and even campsites, catering for people on the move. The best time to travel is generally the beginning of the dry season which is between October & November. The second preferred time to visit this area is around February to April which is the tail end of the dry season. If you are planning on a cheaper budget then you can consider travelling December and January. It is much colder then & there is snow fall, but the trade off is bright clear blue skies, ideal for sight-seeing and photography, just pack some extra layers, a good quality (warm) 4 season winter sleeping bag for those cheap hotels or hostels and all should be fine.

Although Nepal is poor by western standards, it is an area of the world that is rich and in abundance of ancient & more recent history. Also it's a very special place on earth, not just because it has become a Mecca for climbers, adventurers, and people just wanting to be close to or climb the highest mountain in the world, Everest.
