When you double click on the shortcut of an existing Microsoft Office Access database, the database may not get started and you may receive the following error message:
"Can't find database specified or you didn't specify a database at all. Specify a valid database name in the command line and include a path if necessary"

No action will be taken after this error message. Every time when you click on the icon, you will get the same error message.

There are three possible reasons of this error message:
• The database is corrupted
• The shortcut points to a previous version of the Access run-time application, and you selected to remove earlier Office programs during setup.
• When you installed the Office, there was Norton anti virus installed.
No matter what is the reason of this problem, but the result is very serious. In such situations, your database becomes completely inaccessible.

There are three possible resolution of this problem. These are:
• If the problem has occurred due to the removed run-time application then reinstall Office.

• If it is due to Norton Anti virus then first remove Access and then remove anti virus. Now install Access and then install Norton anti virus.
• In case if the problem is due to Access database corruption then you need to repair the database.
