If you watch TV or listen to the radio, you may have heard about these new websites online that will actually allow you to sell gold online. I know a lot of people probably hear these ads and just as well assume that these are a scam or that they aren't really... real... however, if you have ever checked one of these websites out before you will know that in fact some of them are true!

While this won't make you a ton of cash, it can become pretty lucrative. You could either sell your gold jewelry, or you could even go to places like garage sales and flea markets and find cheap gold to buy which can then be sold on these sites. A few of the main things you will want to take a look at when choosing to sell gold online can be found below, and I really suggest that you keep them in the back of your head when dealing with any sell gold site online!

- Make sure the site is legit! I assume most people don't realize that you actually CAN find out if a site is legit or not, and all you have to do is hop on the Internet. "When it comes time for you to choose where to sell your gold," says Steven Maddar, CEO of Global Gold & Silver, "I would suggest that you get the business or site name and do yourself some research! You can either go to a site like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) or you can even take the name of the site or business, paste it into a search engine such as Google, and then press search to check for users' reviews".

- Call the company. I'm sure this seems pretty obvious, but if the site or business has a phone number on the website, be sure that you call it! This is going to prove two things. First off, if they answer it's going to prove that it is a real number and chances are a real business. Second off, if they answer, this proves that their customer service is top notch. Customer service is such an important part of ANY company online!

- Do you have to pay? Chances are if the site makes you pay for a membership or kit of some sort, it is going to be a scam! Sorry! One of online clichés is that if you have to pay money to join, it just might be a scam. Of course this doesn't account for ALL activities or events online, but when it comes to a situation such as selling gold online you really want to make sure that they don't want you to pay anything. Some of these sites will even push the envelope a little farther and offer to send you a pre-paid envelope or package for your gold!

- Make sure they are a licensed company to sell gold! This is going to be such an essential attribute to the site you join. Please make sure that they aren't only an actual company, but that they are also licensed to sell gold and buy gold! As with most other legit businesses online they will all have some kind of an Authenticity, Assurance or Legal license that says they are allowed to do what they are doing. Any Joe Schmo could just as well make up a fake business to sell gold online or a sell gold for cash site, but chances are a "faker" or a scammer, won't take the extra time or money it costs to actually become licensed!

Overall once you actually find a site that you would like to work with, selling gold online could become quite a lucrative process for you - depending on how you choose to go about it. As said above, you could sell your own items or you could rummage around at old garage sales, auction houses, flea markets, or any place elsewhere you can legitimately get gold and sell it to make your own money! This is also a good option for those of you that are eBay-ers and have tried to sell pieces on these kinds of sites without any luck. It's important that you not only find a company to work with that is going to offer a high payout, but one that you can trust, one that is going to protect you from lost or damaged goods and one that is user-friendly!
