Can You Be Green and Clean?

As the countryside begins to turn green again and the clean-up begins after a long spell of extreme winter weather, increasing numbers of people are thinking seriously about some wider green issues.
With this many more businesses will be asking about the environmental credentials of the cleaning service providers they choose in 2010.

Some unscrupulous providers will be making extravagant claims about their green credentials this year - using terms such as environmentally friendly, biodegradable or natural - and some office cleaning companies are already promoting themselves as so-called "organic" cleaning services.

But the whole area is a lexicographic minefield. The use of most of these terms is so unregulated that they have little practical meaning and there is no control or certainly for the discerning purchaser of cleaning products and services who wants to be more environmentally responsible.
