A proper domain name should be keyword rich! By keyword rich I mean it should have at least one site theme keyword in the name. For example: if your site is dog breeding then the domain name should have the word dog in it at the very least. MyDogDomain.com OR MyDogBreedingDomainName.com
Having a keyword rich domain name will help with search engine placement as well.
