Why would anyone start from scratch, when a recipe already exist? Its so important to work smarter not harder. In starting something new, I like to search for a model first. Find someone who's succeeded and perfected what you want, and take closely look at what they did and how they did it. You don't have to follow their plan to the letter, but when you understand their model, you can save yourself years of trial and error. Finding an already proven plan will help you start out much closer to success. That is a perfect example of the phrase, "Don't re-invent the wheel." One very popular working model that has achieved years of success is the single product page. The standard for most network marketers, when they sell products, is to offer a choice of several different products on the same page. On most MLM company websites, you'll find a virtual catalog of many, many products. A catalog like that works when someone goes to the catalog to find a particular product that may be an interest for the individual to purchase. But in this industry, you rarely have those types of buyers. Mostly, they are just looking around, and when they're overwhelmed by all the choices, they typically will decide to click away. The best viable solution is to use the "single page" model, set up a single product on a url, and send targeted traffic to that page. This model tends to work the best. If you're working with a company that doesn't do this, it might be in your best interest to keep looking until you find one that does.
It's so important to target the exact people who will build your network marketing business. Obviously, there are so many possibilities. Successfully targeting the best prospects to mail to is pretty expensive, and when you make a mistake of mailing to a poorly-targeted list, it can be very costly to your business. Successful, proven mailers state that what makes money isn't the mailing piece they send out - it is the names on the list they mail to. This may sound pretty strange, but the number one criteria to be able to predict whether a person will buy is, "has this person bought the same thing before?" I know this may seems very counterintuitive, but its the truth. Mail order pros only send their mailings to prospects who have previously bought the exact same thing, or something very similar. Why would that work? Its mainly because this is a prospect who has stood up as a person interested in exactly what you are selling.
Don't you just cringe when you go out looking to buy a car and a salesman is on you like glue? Some of these indivuals talk non-stop and some of them just watch your every move but a salesman's job is to sell you a car. Period. How does that make you feel? That's a point that Michael Dlouhy has made in his "Success In 10 Steps" ebook. People see MLM as a sales business, and it is not a sales business. Instead, network marketing is a relationship-business. You have to be able to build that bond with people because that is what will cause them to join you. If people don't trust you, they will not join you. That is all you need to know about the popularity of "Success In 10 Steps" as a business-building tool - the message in the book helps to build relationships. Anyway, it's another tool you may find pretty useful.
