Benefits Of Regular Exercise

There's plenty of evidence that an essential component of a healthy life is physical activity. It has been shown that exercise has a positive effect on both your body and mind.

A treadmill can be beneficial to those people given its convenience for home or office use. It is important though to devise a treadmill exercise routine or there will be a danger of the equipment laying dormant in some closet or other.

Even a small increase in our daily level of physical activity can dramatically improve our health. For every bit of exercise we do in a day, we use up calories, which translates into weight loss, and maintenance of healthy weight. The more we do, the less we are at risk of developing number one killers like heart disease and certain types of cancer.

The benefit of regular exercise includes:

1. Lowered body fat, which helps you to avoid conditions such as diabetes, obesity and cancer.

2. Improved circulation, resulting in a healthier heart and blood vessels with a more efficient cardiovascular system overall.

3. More stamina, building your body up over time so that it uses less energy to perform the same tasks.

4. Enhanced flexibility, giving you a better ability to bend, twist and reach without injury, as well as improving your overall balance and coordination.

Research tells me why. While exercising, your body releases chemicals called endorphins that improve mood and the way you feel about yourself. So, if you have a problem with depression or low self-esteem, exercise definitely helps this. After exercising you often feel euphoric and have an energized outlook.

It is important to note that pulse rate is NOT related directly to blood pressure. Many people will not exercise since when their pulse rate goes up, they think that their pressure is getting really high. An increase in pulse rate means that the heart is beating faster. If blood pressure does increase, it is usually only slight and temporary.

Get Enough Sleep

Many people are chronically sleep-deprived and are constantly operating on less than all cylinders because of it. If you want to perform your best at school, at work, at the gym, or on the basketball court, then you need to give your body time to rest and repair itself after an active day.

A reduction in stress can lead to better sleep and a better mood. Your mood is regulated partly by a neurotransmitter called serotonin. What physical activity does is it boosts serotonin in the brain which in turn calms our mood. So if you are still in doubt regarding the benefits of exercise, try to follow a workout regimen for about two weeks and experience the results for yourself.
