Jimmie Martin, London is redefining modern furniture. It's fun, outrageous, irreverent, wildly creative, spectacular and looks perfect in a bedsit or a Beverly Hills Mansion. Jimmie Martin is an amazing visual clash between traditional accepted styles and contemporary pop art. Arm chairs, mirrors, sofas, side tables and more all come under the beguiling Jimmie Martin spell. But who is Jimmie Martin?

It's not 'who is' but 'who are' Jimmie Martin? Jimmie Karisson and Martin Nihimar are both Swedish and have been living in London since 1998. Their stated ethos is no surprise... "The main thing for us is to have fun. We do not work after rules, we create pieces whenever or about whatever". With strong themes such as the Union Jack, Flamingos and Urban Graffiti they picked up the 'New Designer in Practice' at the 2005 Design and Decoration Awards, UK...surprisingly, at the time, they were only designing for themselves and their London flat.

How quickly things changed in 4 short years. Today their clients are mostly high end, creative types who like to travel and are interested in art, fashion and music...their many commissions are impressive: Kylie Minogue, Dawn French, and the ultra chic Surrey Hotel, Manhattan where they created pieces for the lobby, guest bar and the Presidential suite, on site.

With inspiration from everyday life...the streets, news, fashion, people...whatever tickles their imagination...they strive to be different and to break the rules, and the expectations of others "One day we might create something very bright and in your face, while the next day we might do something more pretty, soft and traditional looking. The flexibility is yours... you can either order a completed piece or choose your own selection of frame finishes, upholstery and artwork. And all the images are hand painted works of art. Making a Jimmie Martin piece a true 'one-off original'. And a great investment. Their most interesting piece so far?

It must be the coffee table created out of Pete Townshends last smashed guitar (Japan 2004). Signed by Pete, it was attached to a tabletop and then customised in their inimitable way, insured for US$1,000,000 and auctioned for charity.

Jimmie Martin is not for everyone. But these joyous designs are for all who love the eclectic, the surprising and the slightly 'off-centre'. Jimmie Karisson puts it best... "We don't like when something looks too new and mass produced, so a lot of our finishes have an unexpected twist, making them more interesting. Imperfection is much more interesting than perfection. " We couldn't agree more. Jimmie Martin deliver worldwide. Visit them at www.jimmiemartin.co.uk
