The Landscape Group is a specialist HP Smart Printing Solution provider.

By managing your imaging and printing environment you can cut electricity consumed by up to 40 percent, lower administrations costs and reduce paper used by around 20 percent. Not only is that good for the environment, it also adds up to a substantial saving.

It is possible to make immediate gains in environmental efficiency with relatively little effort, if you know how. The following are all quick wins from which many organisations could benefit:

Energy
• Enabling and using power management
• Switching equipment off when not in use
• Choose printing technology with energy saving features like "instant on" fusing

Printing
• Printing duplex (double-sided) or booklet style (A5, double sided)
• Avoiding double-spacing, large margins, small amounts of orphaned text and unnecessary white space by adjusting the default settings in your word processor and other applications
• Using print preview

• Printing in draft mode
• Print on demand, print forms, brochures and other communications when they are required and in the exact quantities required.
• Centralise printing
• Use electronic templates as corporate stationery
• Avoid printing, make maximum use of electronic workflows
• Install multifunctional devices or printers with duplex function
• Standardise your printer fleet to benefit from bulk procurement of consumables
• Avoid excessive price rises on consumables by entering into HP managed print solutions

Paper
• Using scrap (copied on one side only) paper for draft copies whenever possible
• Purchasing recycled and/or lighter-weight paper
• Encourage more paper - and consumable - efficient printing

Improvements in office IT equipment, with printing in particular, has been seen as making a meaningful contribution to reducing an organisation's carbon footprint.

In March 2009 the Landscape Group was awarded Reseller of the Year for 2008 and HP Office Printing Solutions Specialist Partner for 2008.
