There are many who say they know everything about newspaper article writing. There is much more involved with writing a newspaper article than anybody might think. One of the most common faults is that many people write on and on. Whereas they can communicate what they want to say in a few well chosen words. In order to become a professional writer one has to avoid such kind of writing. This causes rambling of word in the piece. Such article will not be acceptable to any editor.

By keeping few tips in your mind you will be able to harness your writing skill. Concise writing should be preferred to put the point across. The lead or introduction of a news story should contain main points (who, what, when, where, how and why). Thereby it conveys to a reader what is the story all about. The content should be objective. It should be completely based on facts. Sources of the information should be clearly cited and integrated into the piece. Sentences should be clear, concise and worded in a manner that is appropriate for the audience.

The pyramid format in journalism was used during early years of broadcast. In this style, all important facts are mentioned in the first paragraph. Today, the pyramid format serves to present the reader the most important facts first. However, it is mainly used in the news that has a serious message to convey. It draws him in to read the conclusion of the story. Facts should be mentioned in order of descending importance. Nowadays quotes are also given importance as it makes a story genuine. In feature articles subject of the story is not mentioned straightaway. A reader is tantalized in the first paragraph itself to read the rest of the story. Then there are editorial articles. These articles are well researched ones. A lot of time can be invested in searching genuine information for such articles. Article software works wonders in such cases. It is economical as well. The tool searches for all types of genuine information. It also provides you with the source of the information. You have to cross check it from time to time so that facts are not changed. Word limits too should be maintained. Quotes make a news story livelier. It makes the story more credible too. Writers should always assume that the reader has no prior knowledge of the event, organization, etc. Provide background information on past proceedings and clearly outline the evolution of the story. Complementary information, such as the history of an organization or event, should be prominently cited in a story. It can be included at the end of the piece.

Once you have completed the article it should be cross checked again to remove all kinds of errors. Check for factual and grammatical errors. It should be a well written article so that your labor does not go waste.
