Use all available resources. I retired from the military 15 years ago. During my career as a soldier, I served under several commander & chiefs, both Republican and Democrat. Congressmen and senators that controlled the military budget were so intent on their personal agendas that the needs of the soldiers on the ground sometimes got swept under the rug. We had to learn to maximize all available resources and make due with what we had.
This is much like the approach that big business takes towards the small businessman today. We keep hearing the phrase "too big to let fail" as they sweep the small businessman under the rug. The small businessman has two choices in order to survive in today's economic times. Throw in the towel or just make it work.
The Internet can be a very useful business tool when utilized to maximize results. If it is not utilized carefully, the Internet can be a drain on the overall business, sucking the life blood from your advertising budget. The era of "if you build a web site, they will come" is over. The small businessman pays hundreds of dollars to have their business web presence built, only to come up on page 30 of the search engine.
With the new era sites like IamaVendor.Com, the small business can build a web presence that is both economical and effective. Small businesses no longer have to spend extensive time and money to make their presence seen. For a low flat rate fee they can list hundreds of items that link back to their personal website, using inventory in their business much like a searchable, full page banner ad.
Many people voted for change in the last election only to realize that if it's change they want, it has to start with them. The flexible and creative small business will be able to make due and thrive in this economy. If we're not too big to fail, then let's be too smart to fail.
