You absolutely don't have to be an admirer of Jennifer Aniston to check out this movie. The previews paint it with a nice family feeling and made me want to see if it really was that likable. So even though Aniston doesn't float my boat I decided to try it.
More than a film about dogs, this movie captures the essence and trials and tribulations of marriage, family life, and the delicate balance of life, success, and climbing your way to the top; something that most of us struggle with at one time or another. Marley and Me I can honestly say was more than I expected.
A good family film filled with a lot of cute moments and just enough reality to make it seem believable. Jennifer Aniston was pretty good in this film, although I found myself becoming more attached to the dog, the story line and Owen Wilson, then to Aniston, but it seemed to work well. It really wasn't the comedy that the previews left you believing, but honestly that was okay, because it was a really enjoyable film.
Movies with a message are the best. You get the fun time of watching it with the good emotions to keep with you. This move made you want to slow down and appreciate each and every day. There is growth through every emotion even hurt. Even though you get hurt you still can find happiness through it all.
Marley and me will make you cry. But really won't leave you feeling sad. It is about what we go through as families every day. We have to be able to go with the flow. Life is constantly shifting and this movie shows that this is a common part of the human condition. When its all said and done, the movie is better than you think it will be. Its totally fun to watch just not totally funny. It really has some meat to it and that is better than plain old comedy.
