The first phase of Delhi University's admission procedure for the current session ended on Monday with the varsity receiving 1, 13,471 applications. On offer are 49,000 seats at the undergraduate level.

DU received 21,000 more forms this year in comparison to 2008, when 92,000 forms were received. DU received a record 21,524 forms on the last day, while selling 8,041 forms. The counters at North Campus remained open till late in the evening even though the official timing ended at 1pm.

He added that the DU helpline even received a call from a student who wanted to know which centre he could go to buy a form at 3pm on Monday. It seems students have been careless about the admission schedule. We had an unexpected rush of students who wanted to buy forms on the last day. The maximum rush was at the arts faculty where the number of sale counters had to be increased.

The common pre-admission forms enable students to apply in as many colleges and courses as they want. Many applicants also filled multiple forms to avoid rejection and also to keep all options opens. One of the aspirants said, ``I submitted my form in the first week. But I filled another form on the last day to apply for some more courses and colleges. I reached the arts faculty at 8am and couldn't be done even by 2pm.''

Meanwhile, the sale of individual forms varied from college to college. While St Stephen's and Lady Shri Ram College witnessed an increase in their individual sale of forms, sales dipped in Hans Raj College.

Delhi University has scanned the OMRs received earlier and no form has been rejected. After the rest of the forms are scanned, the details of applications will be sent to respective colleges. The colleges will then announce their first cut-off list on June 25.
