When it comes to vehicle repairs, there are a few ways to save on the cost and still feel confident that the repairs that are done are skillful as well as cost effective. The question of course is how many have access to each of these methods.
The first of these that we will look at involve those fortunate individuals that know enough about an automobile to be able to at least accurately diagnose the problem. This is the repair it yourself method, of course that assumes that one has adequate skills to undertake the project. There are probably more than a few out there who would at least be able to handle the minor projects. For these lucky individuals the cost of the repair would be limited to the cost of the parts required to affect the repair. The ones who possess the knowledge to be able to attempt this are indeed fortunate.
The next way to save on auto repairs is for those that done possess the knowledge or skills to attempt the job themselves but who are fortunate enough to know someone who does. For this group, there may be a small charge for labor, depending on how close these individuals might be. For example, a father repairing his daughters car could be expected to charge nothing for the labor and may even purchase the part as well, however a brother-in-law who is a mechanic by trade would probably charge at least a minimum fee, though this may be substantially less than the fees that the general public would pay. Then, of course, there is the cost of the part itself. Therefore, while the amount may be discounted, it still may not be all that inexpensive.
