No one noticed the small yellow creature rolling across the garden towards the big white, house over looking the river. Out in the front a benevolent troll and his wife, a wraith with shiny white hair were passing out ‘trick or treat' candy to all the little goblins and ghouls for Halloween. Small dark slits stared at the large purple-eared creature as it slowly took a piece of candy from its sack and dropped it into a frightened little duff's paper sack. Inching forward, it rolled up the side of the shed to an open window.
"I'll hide in here, till the troll comes in."
Time passed slowly as the circular creature waited, waited for a very long time. The moon had hidden behind some clouds, when the loud footsteps of the troll and his wife could be heard dragging along the narrow passageway. The door to the shed opened and there was a long moment of silence. Ever so slowly, the yellow fleshy thing moved froward, its slits staring intently at the troll. Just as the troll started to hang up his tattered coat, a large mouth flew at it with a vengence.

"I'm going to bite your nose off, " it said loudly. "You must pay for your evilness!"
"Not if I can help it," the wraith-like wife said, as she hit it with her scaly hand.
A loud thud echoed through the walls as the yellow thing lay on the floor wounded. The troll turned on an oil lamp, then looked at the creature with supprise. It was a pumpkin head; barely able to open its eyes, it stared up at the troll.
"You have killed my family, carving them up for your barbaric holiday, so now you must pay!" it said screaming. Rising from the floor, it grew in size, larger and larger, till it was ten feet tall. The frightened troll and his wife tried to run down the narrow passageway to escape. The roar of wind preceded the large-mouthed pumpkin as it gobbled them both up.
And the moral to this story is: "Never make a pumpkin face unless you are ready to face the consequences."
