There are a large number of diets out there. There are diets endorsed from celebrities to the guy next door. Some of these diets include counting calories, eliminating fat, lowering the protein consumed, and diets that rely on a certain number of days such as the three or 14 days diets. Take your pick; you won't pick a winning one because they are all fad diets.
You need a
healthy diet that is sensible and maintainable. The hard part about a good diet is that you will not lose weight right away. We have grown so use to getting what we want as quickly as possible. We use the drive through at fast food places, the bank, pharmacies, and more.
A good diet is not just about losing weight but eating healthy. It is about making a change in your life. It is about eating a good, healthy and balanced diet which will become a new
healthy lifestyle. It is a new way of eating for the rest of your life.
Let's look at one of these fad diets, the cookie diet. The inventor of this diet was Dr. Saigal. His diet consist of eating cookies thus the name, the cookie diet. How do you feel about eating cookies to lose weight? You are supposed to eat nothing but cookies all day. During the day you eat any number of cookies but not to go over five hundred calories. Then your evening meal will consist of three cookies equal to three hundred calories. This will bring your total calories for the day to eight hundred calories. Now cookies or no cookies, any one eating only eight hundred calories a day will lose weight. You think it will work? The answer is a big no. What is missing in this diet is that it eliminates the main food groups. Thus it is not a healthy diet, and not sustainable. The moment you quit the diet, the weight will return plus more. You want to make a change to a healthy lifestyle. Balance living is what your goal is and you need to start with a healthy diet. You cannot lose weight rapidly and be sensible at the same time. Losing weight will come at the right pace with a proper healthy diet and healthy living.
