The African World cup qualifiers are back. The third round of matches will see some big clashes and fate deciding encounters. The third and forth matches of the campaign will see teams clash with each other in the double headers with home and away games. The group E will see the table toppers facing each other. Burkina Faso will host group favorites star studded Ivory Coast. Both the teams have played two matches and have 100% record going in to the clash. Ivory Coast has a better goal difference as compared to their counterparts and their football result are much better than opponent. The Elephants have conceded only one goal and have found the net as many as seven times in the two games played.
Burkina Faso on the other hand is finding its feet in World football and has been a revelation in a tough group. They have conceded two goals and netted five times in two matches. But they have to play out of their skins if they are to get any result against Ivory Coast and keep their dreams alive of making their first appearance in the biggest competition in football. Ivory Coast is the group favorites. They have emerged as a strong unit with many of their players gracing the biggest clubs in Europe. The likes of Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou are core part of Chelsea Emmanuel Eboue and Kolo Toure are first choice Arsenal defenders. Yahya Toure is fresh from his treble winning season at Barcelona and will lead the midfield.
Burkina Faso is relying on its new breed of players. Burkina Faso ended a surprise third at the world cup under 17 in Trinidad and Tobago in 2001. They have raised the standards of football in the country and looking to the race to the World cup in South Africa to the wire. Their first job will be to get past Ivory Coast. They have shown that they have the fire power to score goals which is very important to win matches. Ivory Coast will have high hopes from their European bound stars. Drogba had a mixed season at Chelsea but he can turn the game on its heads. Yahya Toure has shown he can be a versatile player when he took the position of centre back in the final of the Champions League. Toure and Eboue have been handful at right and left back and with their dodgy runs can terrorize the opposition defense.
The host will have their eyes stuck on their star player Moumouni Dgano who has scored 10 goals for side. Other players who can make an impact and be the key for the hosts are Yssouf Kone and Mahamoudou Kere who have the tendency to put the oppositions on the back foot and can score goals. Watch out for Dgano vs Drogba in the battle of the strikers.
