Seeing profits as a result of your affiliate marketing program has much to do with visibility and traffic. You remember that friend from college that seemed to hand his number out indiscriminately to women at the bar? His advice was, "It's a numbers game, buddy - one of them is bound to call me." Internet advertising is no different, except of course for the projected end result being profits and not dates! The more avenues used that are available to you in order to extend the reach and presence of your affiliate and site links on the Web, the better. Utilizing social bookmarking sites is an excellent place to begin.

Social bookmarking sites such as Technorati, Digg, and Ask, are great for getting your excellent content on your affiliate site out there. Posting to these sites is easy, with most social bookmarking sites easily accessed with one push of a special shortcut paced on your browser's toolbar. Millions of users visit these sites daily, allowing these sites to automatically suggest content to read that would appeal to their specific interests. Having your content and links indexed properly on these and other social bookmarking sites significantly increases your chances of achieving the much needed high traffic volumes to make profits a reality. It takes time to individually bookmark all of your new content to the various sites, but once you get into the habit of doing it, it can be done while you check out your favorite streaming media or television shows. Bookmarking can be done without your full attention necessary, but when accomplished on a consistent basis, the results you'll experience are palpable, even bankable. It is always free to join these social bookmarking sites, so using them as an excellent resource as part of your affiliate strategy is a no-brainer. Creating a presence on social networking sites such as MySpace, Twitter, and Facebook will do you no harm as well. The more places in general that your content or links to your content reside the better. The numbers game is extremely important in advertising, both in the physical world and the virtual world of the Internet. Internet and affiliate marketing success will only be achieved as your presence on the Internet grows. Just like your buddy's unsophisticated dating plan in college, the more numbers (links) you give out, the more likely you are to be called (links clicked), and more chances to convert the sale!
