Madagascar 2 starts where the first movie finished. The characters are leaving to go back to New York City, but the boats goes off course and lands in Africa. In Africa, Alex the lion, becomes reunited with his parents. Unfortunately, the relationship between Alex and his parents is not an instant success. The movie follows Alexs journey to reconnect with them and to let them know what he truly is.

As with the first movie our main characters are put through various stresses that tests their close friendship. However, parents will be happy that the movie depicts the characters getting past their problems and becoming closer friends. The morals of this movie shine through and kids will be left with the lesson that friendship is worth fighting for and family ties will always be strong.

This movie is funny and entertaining without being overly silly like many animated films geared towards children.
