This is our weekly discussion board where single ladies flock to swap free online dating advice and dating horror stories. Today we are going to discuss a letter from our regular reader:
"I am Dating. Dating again. Can't believe I'd do it to myself again, after everything. But I'm alive, so I guess I don't really have much choice in the matter: I must date. The Yin is incomplete without the Yang, and who am I to argue with that?! Here's the thing: I think, I may have finally just gotten lucky. We have the same birthday - really, it can't get any more compatible than that - and things have been developing in quite a nice fashion over the past few weeks.
Yet, I've been kicking myself for not following your
free online dating advice. Now that I like him, with my luck he'll turn out to be an axe murderer. I should have ordered an online background check before the first date, but ... well, let's just be grateful everything is fine so far; it's a good sign. I'll do better next time ... but I do hope there isn't a next time. I like this man.
I know I have a tendency to get starry-eyed and forget caution, so I carry with me last week's
free online dating advice I printed out earlier. It reminds me to get back to the serious, responsible woman and mother I normally am, and get online for a background check prior to the second date.
At first, I was flooded with trepidation, then relief. He has no criminal history - yes! He does appear to have a successful business, and - oh, here we go - as someone in construction he's been involved in civil judgments and liens.
What do you think? It appears I am in need of
free online dating advice this time: Do you think I should overlook these few small financial blemishes? They were years ago, and just a few $100's each. He is really successful now. I really do like this guy ... "
