Role Models is a hilarious movie (with Paul Rudd in it) that talks about a more serious subject, a mid life crisis but in a funny way. Rudd makes a lot of poor decisions but ends up getting his life together in the end.
Sean William Scott play opposite Rudd as his party loving, slacker co-worker. They are energy drink sales representatives that travel from school to school preaching the dangers of drugs and alcohol. They are trying to tell teenagers to stay away from drugs and at the same time trying to get them to buy their energy drink which can be just as damaging and destructive. Rudd realizes what a hypocrite he has become and has a mild breakdown in front the school children after breaking up with his long time girlfriend played by Elizabeth Banks.
The two manage to get arrested and are sentenced with 150 hours of community service, which as the tag line from the trailers says-bad idea. They get a couple of kids that need positive role models in their lives and Rudd and Scott, after a few crazy episodes and hi-jinks, manage to grow into, but not before alienating everyone they care about and nearly wreaking the lives of the kids. It is a funny movie with all of the over the top situations that you would expect from a Judd Apatow type film. Even though it comes off as silly in the beginning, the film and especially Rudd show more heart and realism than the script calls for and you actually start to feel sympathetic towards him.
This DVD is amazing and full of extras and treats you will die to see. The deleted scenes and trailers for upcoming movies are definitely worth buying the DVD for.
The interaction of the actors is fun to watch and the movie as a whole is hilarious. This is definitely a must see film.
