A good bed and a good night's sleep are couple of things that are hard to beat. There is nothing worse than feeling rough through tossing and turning and other stuff that conspire to starve the tired mind of timely rest through the long night time. Lying awake with racing thoughts, the radio tuned to Talk Sports, car alarms and police sirens do nothing to calm the jagged nerves. Counting sheep is supposed to help but I keep forgetting to where I got and I have to start all over again and the hours pass and even less time remains to get the rest I need tonight if tomorrow I'm going to be fit to fight.
Insomnia is a terrible thing that starves the mind and can drive you insane. It is a dreadful plague that many endure and is extremely hard to find a cure so
beds are very important to people. It seems to affect the elderly more than the young. It seems that the young can live quite easily without sleep, certainly without night-time sleep though they do tend to make up for it during the day, at least when they have the opportunity. It is the old who are the most sleep deprived.
Sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture. It is carried out on armies by armies and by persecutors on the persecuted. Nobody quite understands what happens during sleep. It is known that sleep is necessary to heal the ravages dealt by consciousness acting upon itself, but nobody knows in what manner this healing comes about. Rapid Eye Movement is probably an important factor. REM aren't on Talk Sport. At least my bed is comfortable, that is the main thing, the only thing. Good night.
