The tells us at Job 37:3-13 that God controls the wind, heat, cold, clouds, sun, rain, lightening, thunder, snow, ice, and tempests. There is no passage in the Scriptures that says or implies that God gave up control of the weather to humans in the Old or New Testament.

God is the one who destroyed the entire earth population, excepting Noah, his family, and some animals, through rain. Genesis 6:7

God killed all the people in Sodom and Gomorrah except Lot and his children. This was done through fire and brimstone from heaven. Genesis 19:24, 25

God killed the Egyptian Pharaoh and his military by having the Red Sea drown them. This was after the same Red Sea was ordered to split in half and the sea bed turned into hard clay so the Israelites could cross safely. Exodus 14:16-31

Fire from heaven killed some Israelites because they chose not to worship God in the right way. Leviticus 10:1,2

God killed some Israelites by having the ground open up and swallow them or having fire from heaven consume them. These people were killed because they tried to take priestly duties that God didn't give to them. Numbers 16:1-35

God killed a number of Amorites who were fighting Israelies by having them struck by hailstones. Joshua 10:8-14

When ungodly soldiers tried to take by force the godly prophet Elijah, those soldiers were killed by fire from heaven. Now the recruiters had to get another 102 people in the army. 2 Kings 1:10, 12

One reason why God alone controls the weather is because it is used by Him to show the eternal punishment of non-believers. Jude 7 says "In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire".

Additionally, from the above list of Bible citations, God uses aspects of weather to punish His own Church. Hence, God uses the weather for temporal punishment as well.

Thirdly, God uses the weather at times in answer to personal prayers of some of his saints. Joshua asked God to not have the sun go down until the Israelites had taken revenge against one of their foes. Joshua 10:12, 13.

Another time God agreed to prolong the life of a saint, and the saint asked for a sign that His prayer had been answered "Yes" by God. So God agreed to have the sun go backwards in the sky by 10 degrees on a certain day. 2 Kings 20:8-11

In summary, God alone controls the weather. The reasons are among others, to bring temporal and or eternal punishment, and to answer personal prayers of saints.

Thus, there is nothing that humanity can do to take away control of the weather from God. Rather than worry about so-called global warming or global climate change, I suggest becoming holy even as God is holy.

Why do that, you ask? Because you will have grown closer to God. He will have showered you with favor above your peers inside and outside of the Church. You will know the character and personality of God better. You will realize you have nothing to worry about with God in control of the weather. Plus, you just might get a weather change in answer to your personal prayer.
