I have discovered a wonderful, easy, and fun way to get God's preferential treatment in my life. You may not want God's preferential treatment in your life, but I sure do.

In my Bible reading time, I was reading Proverbs 3:3, 4. Immediately the thought came to me to STOP! Re-read the passage. Then I asked the question, how do I do this? And...what is the shortest amount of time that I could do this and see results?

The result of my devotions was what I call a 7 day Favor Walk. I am in the midst of one right now as I write this good news to you. And I plan on making more such walks in the near future.

This "walk" is based on the promises of God, and your willingness to "dress" a certain way for 7 days. Let me explain.

Proverbs 3:3,4 says; "Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them on around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man".

When you wear a necktie, a scarf, or a necklace, people's eyes are drawn to that adornment. They sometimes compliment you on your good taste, don't they?

So for 7 days you are going to wear love and faithfulness around your neck. And you are going to look forward to God and man giving you favor.

Keep in mind these verses have nothing to do with salvation. Remember elsewhere in the Bible we are told to keep in step with the Spirit. So in other words even after we are saved, we do not walk in the footprints of the Spirit. That is to say, we sin.

So God here is saying if you put my words into practice I will give you favor. You remember in the Gospels Jesus said that the man who builds his house on Jesus' words was building on a strong foundation. So in the time of a storm, your house will stand.

If God wants to show you favor because you obey His word by putting it into practice, then why not take such favor? By accepting such favor God is showing to you and the world that obedience to His commands is met with goodness and kindness. God is not a surly, scowling task master with a whip who says to us, "You had better do what I say!".

Love is well defined at the "love" chapter of 1 Corinthians 13. What you do is read that chapter and ask the Holy Spirit to show you which definition of love you need to wear or work on that week. It may be kindness or patience or something else.

Faithfulness is easy to grasp. If you need a visual reminder, think of the United States Marine Corps motto of Semper Fidelis. Always Faithful. During the 7 day walk you are going to be ever faithful to God.

Lastly, keep a journal of what you learn during the 7 day walk. On the 7th day, review your journal to see what happened. Share your discovery with God through thankfulness and praise.

Then let me know how it worked for you too.
