Cooking the italian way can be a very easy way to make great dishes without a whole lot of hassle. The very essence of italian food is simple, honest food that uses fresh ingredients to create tasty, healthy dishes.

For starters, Bruschetta or bread with a selection of oils are commonly served. Bruschetta is toasted bread with usually Parma ham, fresh mozzarella and tomatoes, with garlic and herm oil drizzled over the top. Fresh garlic bread can also be used in a Bruschetta dish, if you are wanting to add even more flavour. Olives are another very popular appetiser, along with seafood like Prawns and Calamari.

Italian main courses can be very variety; however they usually fall into three main categories being pizza, pasta and meats. Italy is famous for its fresh pizzas and pastas and the meat that originated from here is not different. Parma ham and salami meats are known all over the world and play a huge role in Italian cuisine. Pizza's can come with many different toppings and sizes and can often be offered as Calzone. This is where the pizza is cooked while half of itself is folded over the other half to create a half moon. Pastas also come in a wide range of shapes and sizes from long spaghetti to long but flat tagliatelle. Or there is smaller tube like pastas like penne or macaroni. Fresh pasta is more often used that dried, to give the dishes a lighter and more flavoursome taste. Sauces that usually accompany these pastas can range from tomato based to cream based, creating a wide variety of choices.

Desserts that are commonly served in an italian meal can vary from homemade ice cream, Napoleon ice cream and Vienetta ice cream to Tiramisu. Their fresh made ice cream is light and creamy with little or none ice particles. With Vienetta ice cream, there is ice cream layered with thin chocolate strips. Napoleon ice cream is made from three different types of flavours stacked together, usually consisting of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Tiramisu is a coffee based deserts with cream and sponge that is light yet full of flavour. If something sweet does not appeal to your senses, why not have a selection of italian cheeses to finish off the meal. Fresh Mozzarella and ricotta are typically served and can be accompanied with olives and sundried tomatoes.

Serving italian wine with the meal will really set the atmosphere and will complement the dishes you are serving. And finish off with italian coffee to end your italian cuisine with real authenticity.
