Recommended Edinburgh Restaurants

Edinburgh is an ancient city with a great selection of modern eateries. As Scotland's capital you can expect authentic Scottish cuisine and fine malt whiskys but Edinburgh also has a great choice of international restaurants catering to all tastes. At the end of the summer each year the city gets a huge influx of vistors from its world renowned performing arts festival. It is a culturaly vibrant city and nowhere more so than in its food and drink.

The city is split into two main sections for tourists, the old town and the new. Both have plenty to see and do but it's the old town which really shines as it has Edinburgh castle and the royal mile. A great hotel and Restaurant at the top of the royal Mile near the castle is the Witchery. A fantastically gothic hotel and restaurant, it is renowned as one of the best places to eat in Edinburgh and has had it's fair share of celebrity endorsements.

For thai food there is an authentic Family run restaurant just off the royal mile known as the Thai orchid. This is a modern contemporary looking restaurant which will serve you thai meals that are created from fresh with no msg's involved. There is also an extensive wine menu and frequent new menu additions. It is highly praised in the local press as a great place to bring a first date.

On the new side of town there is a stunning up market restaurant and bar called tigerlilly which bills itself as a boutique restaurant. The restaurant has a number of flexible dining spaces which can suit large partys or intimate dinners for two. The contemporary menu has dishes such as honey glazed pork belly and butternut squash ravioli next to classics such as Sirloin steak. When you want some oppulence with your drinks the tigerlilly bar is perfect. It offers champagne cocktails and a range of daquiris as well as too many other cocktails to mention.
