Today people spend so much time worrying. People are worried about inflation, worried about loss of employment, finding employment, loss of home equity,
Many worry about the war in Iraq, Who will be the next president? The cost of gas
The cost of groceries, how to make ends meet, when to marry, who to marry, divorce, about your children, about your parents, about your weight, and about your life in general. While avoiding real life worries can be difficult here are a few biblical principals I have found helpful.

The book of Mathew speaks of Gods view on worry:

Mathew 6:32-34
"For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself.

The key to maintaining your peace in difficult and trying times is to seek first the guidance of God, if you have a worry or concern, take it to God in prayer and simply expect the best outcome. Many times your direction and answers can be found in scripture.

Romans 10:17
Faith comes from hearing the message, the message is heard through the word of Christ.

The bible is Gods word; his guidebook for life, for relationships, for business and it offers so much in the form of direction, and guidance with yet so little asked in return. God ask that we simply seek to know him, obey him and trust him and he will make our path straight. Meaning he will make a way for us according to his will and our faith in him. Faith is the important catch here, if you believe that God is an all knowing, all powerful omnipotent God then… he is! If you believe he hung the stars he can certainly change your circumstances.

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understandings; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.

Psalm 32:8
"The Lord says I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

Most of our worries stem from focusing on the problems and life issues we face, in most instances we attempt to obsess over the problem and attempt take action ourselves which results many times in poorly thought out decisions. When we focus on our problems they tend to become bigger than they really are because we are so focused on them that we cause ourselves great anxiety (Worry). One of the greatest lessons I have learned personally is to transfer my focus on my God. He is much bigger and more powerful than any worry I could ever experience. Remember he is our creator, the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last; greater than anything you or I can even comprehend. He already knows every possible outcome for you. This is not an overnight process, I didn't wake up one day and stop worrying, but I did feel that I was slowly changing, I was able to let go and just believe that if a door closed on me unexpectedly that God has something better for me up the road and I may have to wait patiently for it to come to pass.

If there ever was anything to worry about, I believe it would be salvation. If you believe in salvation then you will understand that it is not where you are today (your circumstances), but where you are going!
